Jennifer Lawrence

Who: Jennifer Lawrence
A recent Oscar-winning actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence is possibly the world’s most endearing Hollywood starlet. With responses like these, it’s kind of an instinctual reaction to fall in love with her.
Just like her on-screen roles, JLaw’s personal style is deliciously colourful-sweet one minute, tough and sexy the next. Vanity Fair seems to have this combination down-pat while styling Jen for their February 2013 cover story. Get the look with this long sleeve crop tee from TopShop, leopard print Stella McCartney trousers and patent stilettos by Sergio RossiSweeten things up with a satin bow headband, and you’re the perfect 50’s doll!

Who: Taylor Swift
It’s difficult to come across someone who hasn’t heard of Taylor Swift. Whether you know her for her music or dating habits, ultimately, it’s hard to deny her success.
What: Although she’s been recently scrutinised for questionable Grammy award show behaviour , Taylor always puts her best foot forward on the red carpet. Her often neutral colour choices are balanced with a touch of flair in the form of a low box neckline or lace bodice. Hair is mostly kept simple, be it with Grecian-like up-dos or straightened. And for those who thought the girly-girl was here to stay, cast your eyes over to that white J.Mendel pantsuit.

The case of the V-Neck is one long debated. Too metrosexual for your taste? Take a leaf from the style books of the manliest of men- the USMOST- and you might think otherwise.
While it’s clear that not everyone has the physique of Olympians, the truth is that when worn correctly, the transformative power of the v-neck is enormous. It’s slimming, it’s simple, and in the words of Nathan Adrian, “not just a shirt”.
As with all clothes, a good v-neck should skim, not cling to your body. Too tight and you’re pulling a Jersey Shore; too loose and it becomes your girlfriend’s night-dress. The neckline- unless you’re feeling particularly eccentric- should always remain half an inch or an inch below the center collar bone.
The perfect day-to-night staple, the v-neck also keeps things flexible for day-to-day shenanigans. Layer it up with a vest or cardigan and some dress shoes, and you’re ready to go from man date to first date. Yes, the jeans can stay.

Best Dressed: The 85th Annual Academy Awards

Newcomer Samantha Barks proved that black is far from basic in a stunningValentino number. And while plunging necklines are usually cause for unwanted rookie errors, Sam turns it into quite the eye-catching piece with astatement necklace that only accentuated her fabulous figure underneath.
Charlize Theron really shut it down in striking white Dior Couture, with a cutout neckline and beaded peplum. Some Harry Winston jewelry added some sparkle to the look while her newly acquired “freeing” pixie cut gave the look all the extra attention it deserved. Truly this is self-assurance at its finest.
Naomi Watts looked every bit the futuristic queen in her metallic Armani Privegown. The thickly sequined number had just the right edge with its asymmetrical cut-out whilst still maintaining a feminine silhouette with a slight flare on the hem. Complementing the drama is an effortless blown-back coif and minimal accessories.
Amanda Seyfried has aced every single award show red carpet thus far and her Oscar appearance was no exception. Her pale Alexander McQueennumber was all about subtle elegance with its high neckline, embellished detailing and sheer skirt. Dainty earrings and a simple ring complete the picture, while some lilac cat-eyes keep things sweet, feminine and just that little bit flirty.

Miranda Kerr

Who: Miranda Kerr
Victoria’s Secret Angel and David Jones Ambassador, Miranda Kerr is easily Australia’s finest provision to the modelling world and in the past year, has been rising in status as everyone’s favourite MILF.
What: Keep your wardrobe fresh with all things bright and beautiful. Printed pants not only fit the everyday bill, but add an element of interest to any look. Miranda wears Paige Denim’Skyline Ankle Peg (left) and a classic from theCeline 2012 Resort Collection (right). Some unassuming neutrals like this Rag and Bone tee and Bally sandals keeps things on the down low, finished with an elegant statement of a duffel, thanks to Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton

Rihanna

Who: Rihanna
One of the biggest-selling artists of our generation, Rihanna was ranked the fourth most powerful celebrity in 2012, with a proven ability to re-invent herself with every one of her 6 album releases
What: Rihanna certainly turned the tables on her usual bad-assery and channeled some old-school Hollywood glamour on the red-carpet of this year’s Grammy Awards with her custom Azzedine Alaia gown. Despite being a safe option for the typically risque singer, the piece still maintained some dramatic flair with its cascading train and all-round sheerness. Bright complementary nails and make-up complete the picture, accented with simple silver jewel pieces. Ri’s ombre locks were the cherry on top to the best outfit of the night, but did the number really comply to the memo

Nathan Adrian

Who: Nathan Adrian
Since winning Olympic Gold in the 100 freestyle in London, life has certainly changed for the better for this Cal swimmer and alumni. Outside training for Rio 2016, he’s been busy with numerous public appearances, charity work and of course, setting new records in the pool.
What: Perhaps a trip to NYFW has its influences, perhaps not, but Nathan’s personal get-ups for events has certainly evolved. Although v-necks can do him no wrong, he’s swapped said shirts, button-downs and sneakers for more sophisticated ensembles. Case in point: channelling a little Clark Kent and a bit of prepster-style with plaid pants, a combed side-part and glasses- Nathan, is that you?
